An immigration psychological evaluation is a comprehensive clinical assessment that documents relevant personal experiences, psychological symptoms, and the emotional or functional impact of trauma, hardship, violence, family separation, or other circumstances related to an immigration case. The evaluation includes a detailed written report that may be used by the client’s attorney as one source of information in the legal process.
The process typically includes a comprehensive clinical interview, review of relevant records or background information, standardized psychological measures when appropriate, and preparation of a detailed written report. With your written authorization, I may also communicate with your immigration attorney to clarify the referral question and relevant case information. The evaluation is separate from therapy and does not guarantee a particular legal outcome.
Immigration psychological evaluations may be appropriate for asylum, extreme-hardship waiver, VAWA, U visa, T visa, cancellation of removal, and other immigration-related matters. Because each case is unique, I encourage prospective clients or referring attorneys to reach out to discuss the specific referral.
I provide individual and/or group clinical supervision for LMSWs pursuing LCSW licensure in Texas. Supervision emphasizes clinical skill development, ethical decision-making, cultural responsiveness, reflective practice, and the development of each supervisee’s professional identity.
