Immigration Psychological Evaluations

Comprehensive, trauma-informed psychological evaluations for individuals involved in immigration proceedings, provided with cultural humility, clinical rigor, and respect for each person's lived experience.

Immigration proceedings often involve experiences that are deeply personal, including trauma, violence, persecution, family separation, loss, or prolonged uncertainty. A psychological evaluation provides an opportunity to thoughtfully document those experiences and their emotional and psychological impact within the context of an immigration case.

As a licensed clinical social worker, I conduct comprehensive, trauma-informed evaluations that integrate clinical interviewing, psychological assessment, and relevant background information into a detailed written report that may be submitted as part of immigration proceedings.

Sharing experiences of trauma, persecution, violence, family separation, or loss can be emotionally difficult. Throughout the evaluation process, I strive to create an environment where you feel respected, supported, and able to share your story at a pace that feels manageable. While an immigration psychological evaluation is different from psychotherapy, I approach every evaluation with compassion, cultural humility, and deep respect for each person's lived experience while maintaining the objectivity and clinical rigor expected of an independent clinical evaluation.

Types of Cases

  • Asylum

  • Extreme Hardship Waivers

What to Expect

1. Initial Consultation

We'll discuss the purpose of the evaluation, answer your questions, and review the referral process.

2. Clinical Interview

We'll spend time talking about your personal history, important life experiences, current concerns, and the circumstances relevant to your immigration case.

3. Psychological Assessment

When appropriate, standardized assessment measures and available records may be incorporated to better understand your experiences and current functioning.

4. Written Report

Following the evaluation, I prepare a comprehensive written report that summarizes relevant history, clinical findings, and psychological impact for use in your immigration proceedings.

Attorney Referrals

I welcome referrals from immigration attorneys and collaborate, with the client's written authorization, to ensure I understand the referral question and relevant case information.

The evaluation remains an independent clinical assessment. While the report may provide important information to support legal proceedings, no specific legal outcome can be guaranteed.
